Business Intelligence and Data Mining with Excel 2007

With the release of the Data Modeling Add-in for Excel 2007, Microsoft has brought the power of SQL Server Data mining to the familiar Excel interface.

This tutorial covers the use of Excel 2007 to perform Business Intelligence. It includes coverage of pivot tables that can be used to get a better understanding of your data by allowing you to break down key variables in a variety of ways. It also covers the Table Analysis tools available in the Data Modeling Add-in for Excel 2007. These tools expose sophisticated statistical techniques supported by the Analysis Services in SQL Server. Using these tools, it is possible to gain a deep understanding of the data without having to be an expert in Data Mining.
